Common questions

Does Girsh connect to my bank?

No, and it cannot. Girsh has no connection to any bank or payment provider, no way to read your transactions, and no field for a full card number. It tracks what you tell it you pay for. It also cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Your subscriptions are stored on the phone and every screen reads from the phone, so nothing waits on a connection. Reminders are scheduled on the device itself rather than sent through a push server, so they fire offline too.

Why do I need an account if the data is on my phone?

So it survives. The account holds a backup copy you can restore after reinstalling, or use on a second device. It is readable only by you — the database checks your account on every single request. If you would rather nothing left the device at all, this version of the app cannot do that.

How do I move to a new phone?

Install Girsh, sign in with the same email and password, and your subscriptions and cards come back from the backup. Nothing else is needed.

Why does one of my subscriptions show a coloured letter instead of a logo?

Because no logo could be resolved for that company. Girsh looks a logo up from the company website address the first time it shows the row; if there is nothing to find, or you are offline, it draws a coloured initial instead. Everything else works exactly the same.

If a company you use is missing from the picker, report it from the search screen when it comes back empty — that list is what gets reviewed.

What happens when I change my main currency?

Every stored price converts to the new currency, using downloaded exchange rates. If a rate is unavailable the app refuses the change rather than guessing — a wrong rate would silently corrupt prices that still look perfectly valid.

A reminder did not arrive.

Check that notification permission is granted for Girsh in your phone settings, and that reminders are switched on for that subscription. Reminders are local to the device, so a phone that was switched off at the scheduled moment shows the notification when it next starts.

How do I delete my data, or my whole account?

Your data: Account → Data → Delete all data. This clears the phone immediately and erases the backed-up copy in your account too.

Your account: see the account deletion page — it is completed within 30 days.

I forgot my password.

Use “Forgot password” on the sign-in screen. The reset link is sent to your email address and opens the app so you can set a new password. If the link says it has expired, request a fresh one — reset links are deliberately short-lived.
